UCSF neuro-oncologist Maya Graham, MD, PhD

Maya Graham, MD, PhD

Neuro-oncologist

Specialties: Adult brain tumors, including glioma and glioblastoma

Maya Graham, MD, PhD, is a neuro-oncologist who cares for patients with brain tumors. She has a particular focus on gliomas.

Her research centers on developing stem cell–based models of gliomas to better understand how epigenetics (changes in how a tumor’s genetic code is organized and expressed) contributes to disease progression and treatment resistance. She hopes this work will uncover new targeted therapies for patients. Her research receives funding from the National Institutes of Health.

Graham is an active member of several professional societies, including the American Academy of Neurology, where she serves on the early career leadership development subcommittee, and the Society for Neuro-Oncology, where she is a co-host of “Neuro-Oncology: The Podcast.” Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, singing, and spending time with her husband and two young sons.
