S. John Liu, MD, PhD

Radiation Oncologist

Specialties: Adult and pediatric brain tumors

Dr. S. John Liu is a radiation oncologist who cares for patients with brain tumors. He completed his MD degree and PhD in biomedical sciences at UCSF. He also completed residency training in radiation oncology at UCSF.

He is interested in developing ways to improve brain tumor therapies, with a particular interest in maximizing the efficacy of radiation for brain tumors while minimizing its side effects. Dr. Liu leads an interdisciplinary basic and translational research group dedicated to advancing new treatments for malignant brain tumors and understanding mechanisms of treatment resistance. We develop and apply cutting-edge functional genomic approaches collaboratively to achieve this mission.
