Managing Seizures: Supporting a Person
UCSF nurse navigator Mary Lovely, RN, PhD, outlines the steps to take when someone is experiencing a seizure, with specific recommendations depending on whether the person is having a focal seizure or a generalized seizure. A seizure is an emergency in the event that the episode is the individual's first time, lasts longer than five minutes, or causes the person injury. She also advises calling 911 if focal seizures repeat themselves and become generalized.
