Managing Seizures: Driving
Having a seizure might mean you can no longer drive — at least until your seizures are under control. UCSF neuro-oncologist Jennie Taylor, MD, MPH, explains that, in California, health care providers must report a seizure to the Department of Public Health as a "loss-of-consciousness" episode. The Department of Motor Vehicles will then require additional documentation, including a medical evaluation from your physician, to determine if you can resume driving.
