Dr. de Groot is the Division Chief of the Neuro-Oncology Division at UCSF and an internationally recognized leader in the field of brain tumors and molecular targeted therapies. He specializes in the treatment of adults with brain tumors, including glioblastomas and other gliomas.

Dr. de Groot's research expertise is in glioma angiogenesis and therapeutic approaches to address tumor resistance to anti-angiogenic agents. He has been involved in numerous clinical trials evaluating novel treatments for patients with glioblastoma. Dr. de Groot has also mentored countless junior faculty, clinical fellows, postdoctoral research fellows, residents, medical students and undergraduate students – inspiring the next generation of innovative clinical and basic science research.
