UCSF Brain Tumor Center Launches Online Consult Service for Physicians
The UCSF Brain Tumor Center has launched a new online service for physicians to request a consultation with UCSF neurosurgeons and neuro-oncologists.
"We are often asked by our peers in the medical community to consult on all different types of primary and metastatic brain tumors, including skull base tumors, meningiomas, pituitary tumors, and spine and spinal cord tumors," says Mitchel Berger, MD, Chair of UCSF's Department of Neurological Surgery. "With the ability to upload scans and notes online, this new program gives us the opportunity to provide consults much faster."
The online consult service includes:
- Fast, secure upload of patient data, including medical records and scans
- Prompt response times
- Access to adult and pediatric brain tumor specialists
- Both surgical and medical consults for brain tumor cases
This physician-to-physician consult service is offered free of charge, and launched alongside new, improved online tools for community physicians, including advanced search of clinical trials at UCSF.
