UCSF Neuro-Oncology Extends Supportive Care Services to North Bay
Mary Destri, MBA, joins the UCSF Neuro-Oncology team as the programming liaison to extend Neuro-Oncology supportive care services and resources to our patients and families in the North Bay.
As the Neuro-Oncology Supportive Care Services Community Expansion Coordinator, Destri will facilitate new programming at Marin General Hospital and the Napa Valley Neurosurgery Clinic that aims to provide care for patients and caregivers through direct outreach, support groups, special events, and education.
Additional programming is in development to offer caregiver and patient support groups, webinar series, and other resources on a variety of topics, including the following:
- Navigating the healthcare system
- Financial, disability and insurance information
- Guidance for completing advanced health care directives
- Resources on local psychologists for additional support
- Exercise Counseling
Destri comes to us after nearly two years as the Program Manager of the UCSF Patient and Family Cancer Support Center (formerly the Cancer Resource Center). In that position, she launched several new programs, including Mindfulness-Based Cancer Recovery, Healing in Nature at the SF Botanical Garden, and Horses as Healers at Miwok Stables in Mill Valley. βI enjoy offering wellness programs to patients,β said Destri, βto help empower them to live their best lives.β
The expansion of UCSF Neuro-Oncology supportive care services to Marin and Napa is made possible by The Christina Capurro Sand Brain Tumor Fund. This fund, which was established in honor of Christina Capurro Sand by her mother Jeanne Capurro, also supports glioblastoma research at UCSF.
